Mississippi Atheists, Go Vote!

I know it may not be high on your list of favorite activities, but I urge you to vote on Tuesday. Why? It is so rare that a Mississippi primary means anything, but we get to help decide the Democratic nominee in this one. In addition, it is time we begin to realize that there are enough of us to have a meaningful influence on the political process. We can use our votes to support the reality-based community and stand against ignorance.

At the gym this morning I overheard many hard-core Republicans talking about voting for Hillary because they think (rightly) that McCain has a shot at beating her.

Yes, I saw many comments to this effect in the Hattiesburg American forums and some other Hattiesburg-related forum of which I cannot recall the name right now. This doesn't surprise me, and like you, I suspect that there may be some truth to it. If nothing else, a Hillary nomination would mobilize the Republican party to turn out and vote in November.

I'm going!! I've heard some people talk about Atheists not voting because no one has mentioned us. I think that's a very foolish thing to do.

If it wasn't for fear of being tarred and feathered, a t-shirt that said "I'm an atheist, and I vote" would be nice.

If I had a t-shirt like that, I'd wear it. I'm tired of hiding as if I had something to be ashamed of.

I hear ya, Agnosticat. I felt that way as I walked into the polling place and realized I was the only one at the Democratic ballot table.
